His Majesty King Letsie III presented Bronze medal, Cross medallion and Gold awards under Prince Mohato Award to 33 youth at the event held at the Royal Palace today (Friday).

In her welcome remarks, the National Authority Award Chairperson, Ms. Maureen Nyathi said the award continues to develop the lives of Basotho.

She noted that as a result of this scheme, the youth manage to make a difference in the lives of needy people especially adults.

She said youth also contributed to the development of environment by planting trees at various areas that include Makeneng and Likhoele to mention a few.

Ms. Nyathi thanked His Majesty for presenting the awards, expressing hope that he will continue to support all the activities of the scheme.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Ts'ele Maraisane expressed their gratitude to His Majesty, further pledging to continually support the initiative.

He extended their gratitude to His Majesty and the Minister of Education and Training for gracing the event with their presence.

Beneficiaries of the Award came from the following high schools; Siloe, Moshoeshoe II, Thetsane, Matlakeng, Lepekola and Semonkong.

The Prince Mohato Award Programme was formed in 1976. It is a non competitive programme of voluntary leisure-time activities for young people between the ages of 14 and 25.

It encourages personal discovery, growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility and community service.
