PM ATTENDS AU-EU SUMMIT IN COTE D'IVOIRE

The Prime Minister, Dr Motsoahae Thabane and his delegation left the country on Monday to attend a two-day African Union and European Union (AU-EU) Summit to be held in Cote D'Ivoire starting from Wednesday this week.

The summit that will be attended by Heads of Government from Africa and Europe is aimed at providing the institutional framework to discuss areas of trade and cooperation between the African and European nations.

The Government Secretary, Mr. Moahloli Mphaka said this in a brief interview before departure at Moshoeshoe I airport.

He said challenges facing the African countries will also be addressed to enhance trade for economic growth of the countries.

Mr. Mphaka pointed out that the Prime Minister is expected to forge relations with other countries in different areas that can contribute towards the economic growth of the country.

He mentioned that Lesotho has plenty of water and diamond mines that can further be explored to improve business and facilitate trade between Lesotho and other countries.

He said Lesotho is still classified among the least developed countries, saying it would be a good thing if she could graduate to a level of developing countries through trading with the water resource and other natural resources that the country has.

Dr Thabane and his delegation is expected back home on Friday.

This summit is held annually and this will be the fifth time for it to be held.
