HEALTH REFUTES ALLEGED CONFIRMATION OF CORONA

Following release of a report that went viral on social media on Tuesday stating that there is an alleged confirmed case of Corona Virus (COVID-19) in Lesotho; the Ministry of Health has on Wednesday declared the information as false alarm.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry, this alarm is reported to have unfortunately disrupted the efforts of the government of Lesotho specifically in the field of risk communication for responding to COVID-19.

The ministry however reassured that it will continue to carry out the responsibility of providing the public with authentic report and updates to ensure public awareness and preparedness.

It is with this regard that the public has been urged to be vigilant and maintain safety protocol to minimise spread of the virus and among other precautions the public is encouraged to wash hands with soap and running water or use alcohol based sanitiser, observe coughing and sneezing protocol, refrain from touching and shaking hands to mention a few.

The ministry therefore allayed public fear stating that Port Health authorities will continue to carry out vigilant screening of travelers at all designated ports of entry in the country.

Corona Virus was reportedly discovered in Wuhan, China in December 2019.
