Zeku Safety Focus on Monday donated Personal Protective Equipment worth M100, 000 to the Maseru District Health Management Team (DHMT) to assist in the efforts to fight the spread of COVID -19 pandemic.
The donation consists of gloves, disposable overalls, sanitizers and cold fogger.
When receiving the donation, the Minister of Health, Mr. Motlatsi Maqelepo thanked Zeku Safety Focus for the donation which he noted came at a crucial time when Lesotho is in dire need, saying the donation will ensure safety of the health workers.
He said the aid came at the an opportune time, relating to his experience during the weekend when he was called at Ha-Thetsane to attend to one suspect who was found with severe COVID-19 symptoms, noting that members of the community with vehicles feared to assist due to fear of contaminating the disease.
Mr. Maqelepo commented that it is more gratifying to receive such needed donation from a Mosotho.
He therefore urged Basotho to adhere to the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended protocols, saying this will help in minimizing the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Speaking during the handing over of the PPE, the Director of Zeku Safety Focus, Ms. Limpho Ntŝasa said the donation came as a result of their challenging experience where health professionals collected a COVID-19 suspect in one of the areas in Maseru dressed without proper protective clothing.
She also appealed to Basotho to work together and support all initiatives aimed combating the spread of the coronavirus.
Also speaking, the District Medical Officer, Dr Maama Mojela expressed their appreciation over the Zeku Saftey Focus for helping the facility noting that the given PPE will assist the health professionals when collecting the COVID-19 suspects.
As of Monday, July 13, 2020, the COVID-19 death toll in the country had increased to 3, with 245 positive cases and 33 recoveries.
