The President of Botswana, Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi has asked Lesotho to support their candidate for the position of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) executive secretary for SADC in the coming elections.
Dr. Masisi’s visit to Lesotho is envisioned to review and deliberate the bilateral relations between the two countries and how to improve the working relationship of these countries. 
He said amongst the discussion they had with Dr. Moeketsi Majoro was the developments regarding Lesotho reforms progress which is monitored by SADC, noting that Lesotho has an assignment to report to the organisation in August.
Dr. Masisis said their candidate is Mr. Elisa Magosi who is currently Permanent Secretary Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation but he is recently been designated as Ambassador at large while the current SADC Executive Secretary is Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Moeketsi Majoro said Dr. Masisi’s visit to the country is envisioned to review and deliberate the bilateral relations between the two countries and also how to improve the working relationship of these countries.
Dr. Majoro said these countries have a good working relationship and  
He said they have cooperated with Botswana on this issue before and they have promised Dr. Masisi that they will soon give their response relating to the issue, saying that they could not forget the rich history they share.
Dr. Masisi also paid a courtesy call to His Majesty King Letsie III.
This was the second visit to Lesotho since being elected as the President of Botswana. He is currently the chair of SADC organs on politics, defense security and cooperation. 
His delegation was made up of the paramount chief of Bangaketse, Kgosi Malope II, Minister of International Affairs and cooperation, Dr. Lemogang Kwape, Ambassador at large, ministry of International Affairs and Relation, Mr. Elisa Magosi, Permanent Secretary Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gladys Mokhawa, Secretary for Political Affairs, Office of the president, Prof. Mpho Molomo, Press Secretary to the president, Mr. Batlhalefi Leagajang and Deputy Coordinator, presidential COVID-19 Task Force, Prof. Mosepele Mosepele.
