Monday of July 17, marked His Majesty King Letsie III’s 54th Birthday which was celebrated in different ten districts of Lesotho.

The 2017 National celebration held at Leshoboro Seeiso Sports Complex in Mafeteng, attracted different communities dressed in black and gold colours known to resemble Makaota.

At the event, His Majety King Letsie III was accompanied by Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso and their chidren; princesses Senate and Maseeiso and Prince Lerotholi who were also clad in black and gold attire.

The celebration which was officially led by the Prime Minister, Dr Thomas Motsoahae Thabane who wished His Majesty a happy birthday and long healthy life, saying Basotho as a nation are blessed to have such a tradition that is envied by other nations.

To grace the event, various entertainment groups in the district together with members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) band, LDF Parachutes carrying Lesotho’s flag to show oneness of the Basotho nation while at the same time wishing His Majesty the King a happy birthday, entertained the crowd.

The event was also dignified with eight Lesotho Defense Force paratroopers who were flying in groups of four and landing at the center of the ground where a colored smoke was exploding while three LDF helicopters were passing by the racecourse as part of entertainment.

Majority of the chorale and traditional selected groups performed songs which praised His Majesty and also wishing him together with his family a joyous life full of happiness.

In an interview, some of the community members at the event expressed gratitude that the celebration is held annually in different districts, saying it is imperative for this nation as it marks the history of the country.

They commented that activities of these nature are important as they give young people an opportunity to meet with the leadership of this country starting with Royal Family members as well as the Prime Minister and his cabinet.

His Majesty King Letsie III is the eldest son of the late King Moshoeshoe II and Queen mother ‘Mamohato Bereng Seeiso and is married to Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso and blessed with two princesses Senate and Maseeiso and Prince Lerotholi.

Other celebrations led by Cabinet Ministers were held in other districts countrywide.
