In celebration of Lesotho’s bicentennial, the Alliance Francaise Maseru, in collaboration with the Morija Museum and Archives will host the premiere of “The Kingdom in The Sky: Moshoeshoe I’s Strategy and Legacy”.
According to Ms Thato Ramafu, this is a short historical film that delves into the rich and interconnected history between Lesotho and France emphasizing the strategic alliance between King Moshoeshoe I and French Missionaries.
“The film explores the enduring partnership founded on mutual respect which has shaped relations between the two nations,” she said.
She indicated that this is supported by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the French Embassy to South Africa and the Alliance Francaise de Maseru,adding that the event seeks to commemorate King Moshoeshoe I’s significant role in preserving Lesotho’s sovereignty and establishing international alliances.
“As part of the country’s 200 years celebration, this event pays tribute to the shared past of Lesotho and France while highlighting the continued commitment to future collaborations,” continued Ms Ramafu.
In conclusion, she said that the event promises a meaningful reflection on Moshoeshoe I’s legacy and the diplomatic ties between Lesotho and France, offering viewers an opportunity to witness the historical journey.
