BLANKET EXHIBITION A SUCCESS

The showcasing of the traditional blankets of Basotho sought to remind Basotho about the importance of the blanket in terms of culture and heritage.

Speaking at the launch of the Nanabolele Blanket Exhibition, held in Morija on Monday, the Curator of the Morija Museum, Mrs Mabakuena Makhema,  said the launch of the Nanabolele Blanket Exhibition will bring back the history of blankets, why it is so important that Basotho take a good care of the blanket.

She said it is sad that today Basotho are killing each other in fight over blanket colors by some Famo Music groups. She made a plea to Basotho to restore the love of their blankets and stop labeling them with the said music groups.

The member of the Board of the Morija LECSA,  Mr Kotumela Kotumela said the church embraces Basotho culture hence its full support to the revival of the MACUFE in celebration of the 200 years of the nation’s existence.

The Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Molupe Pheko shared the same sentiments that the revival of the MACUFE will bring back the love for one another. He said the corporation is determined to work with the Museum to make sure that going forward, MACUFE lives longer.

Amongst the Blanket Exhibition was the Victoria England Blankets, Victoria Line, Royal Collection and Young Designer blankets.
