CLIMATE CHANGE REQUIRES NATIONS TO JOIN HANDS –HIS MAJESTY

Lesotho is among the world’s nations faced with multiple challenges brought about by climate change which require countries to join hands and decisively address them.

His Majesty said this when accepting letters of credence from the Ambassador of Austria to Lesotho, Mr. Alexander Bellen at the ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Thursday.
He said Lesotho has been a beneficiary of Austria assistance to the regional organisation, Southern African Development Community (SADC) in the field of renewable energy.
His Majesty said the Austria’s contribution on the financing of SADC Centre on renewable energy and energy efficiency is also appreciated.
He stated that Lesotho and Austria maintained warm and cordial relations dating way back to 1966 when Lesotho obtained her independence and the appointment of the new Ambassador to Lesotho is testimony that the cooperation that existed between the two countries will continue to grow for mutual benefit of the peoples.
His Majesty expressed hope that Austria will continue to extend a helping hand by providing expertise that will make Lesotho to have the world class Museum that the country is currently building.
He assured the newly Ambassador that he will receive the necessary support from the government so that his term of office in Lesotho is successful and fruitful.
Presenting his credentials, Mr. Bellen said Lesotho is one of the countries that benefited from the support of Austria on renewable energy and energy efficiency and pledged commitment that Austria will continue to cooperate with Lesotho for the mutual benefit of Lesotho and Austria.
Mr. Bellen said during his tenure of office, he will work hard to ensure that the cooperation and existing ties of friendship grow for future benefit of the two countries.
