DIALOGUE A MILESTONE TOWARDS REFORMS – PM

The Prime Minister, Dr Thomas Thabane says the first plenary of the Multi Stakeholders National Dialogue (FPMSND) marks a milestone in the universal implementation of reforms.
The Prime Minister made these remarks when officially closing the three-day dialogue held in Maseru on Wednesday.
He urged participants to lobby others in the districts to participate in issues of the society, noting that the next dialogue will also be in February 2019.
Dr Thabane said in line with the theme ‘The Lesotho We Want: Dialogue and Reforms for National Transformation,’ all must be committed to change the image of the country.
He expressed appreciation to all including the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Facilitator Justice Likgang Moseneke for contributing towards the success of reforms.
In the same token, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Monyane Moleleki commended Basotho for having participated in the dialogue in large numbers, saying this is an indication that the nation wants the best out of Lesotho.
On behalf of SADC Facilitation Team, Ms. Elina Molekane stated that the engagements, though very robust enabled citizens to express their thoughts and views in issues affecting peace in the country.
“We shall take the dialogue to the districts as well, to allow members of the society to participate ahead of the second dialogue next year,” she stressed.
She said she is certain that when the Prime Minister goes to the Heads of State summit, he will have something to report on as Lesotho is making progress.
The Leader of Opposition Parties in Parliament, Mr. Mathibeli Mokhothu said these reforms are aimed at addressing issues affecting the whole nation despite one’s political status.
He appealed to the nation to seriously participate in transforming the nation so as to avoid becoming victims of other countries whose affairs are in order.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the 21 parties outside Parliament, Mr. Pelele Letsoela expressed concern saying the society seems to be impatient with one another, mistrusting others, things he said are not ideal towards developing the country.
As part of the dialogue, various teams made up of media, security, economy and others gave out recommendations emphasising the need to depoliticise these sectors so that they can serve the nation effectively.
Members of the National Development Planning Committee (NDPC) planned and ensured the dialogue was organised and held.
The next dialogue is expected in February 2019.
