DPM REPRESENTS LESOTHO AT MRS. WINNIE MANDELA’S FUNERAL

The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Monyane Moleleki represented Lesotho at the funeral of late South African President’s former wife, Mrs. Winnie Madikizela Mandela who was laid to rest on Saturday in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa (SA).
Mr. Moleleki’s entourage included his coalition partners, Chief Thesele Maseribane who is leader of Basotho National Party (BNP) and Minister of Communications, Ms. Keketso Rantso, Reformed Congress of Lesotho (RCL) leader and Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr. Samonyane Ntsekele who was representing All Basotho Convention (ABC) leader who is also Prime Minister (PM) of Lesotho, Dr Motsoahae Thabane, and Principal Chief of Thaba-Bosiu, Chief Khoabane Letsie Theko.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday, Mr. Moleleki said the trip whose intention was to pay last respects to the late struggle stalwart, also gave him opportunity to speak to the Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Dr Stergomena Tax on issues that Lesotho is currently dealing with ahead of the Double Troika which is expected to be held soon.
‘We discussed issues surrounding the reforms and a report that Lesotho will submit to the Troika which will mainly be on the reforms process and the SADC decisions on the Phumaphi Commission of Inquiry,” however saying details of the talks cannot be disclosed since he is to report to his authorities and colleagues.
The DPM further said he also met with the South Africa Speaker of Parliament, Ms. Baleka Mbete and had a discussion around Lesotho’s issues and status.
Mama Winnie as many referred to, died at the age of 81 on April 02, 2008.
