DPM VISITS VICTIMS OF RIBANENG BUS ACCIDENT

The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Monyane Moleleki visited eight victims of Ribaneng bus accident who were admitted at Scott Hospital in Morija and Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital on Monday.
Speaking during his visit at Scott Hospital, Mr. Moleleki commended the management of the hospital including members of the community for their quick response to the emergency and tragedy.
He said the Lesotho Government appreciates all that has been done by the hospital and local communities to save the lives of those who were still alive as well as taking bodies of those who lost their lives to nearby mortuary for relatives and family members to identity.
The Deputy Prime Minister commended the hospital through its staff for showing its commitment and keenness to attend to the emergency by rescuing the lives that were in danger, saying this is an indication of love for their work. He said the government is concerned about the incidents of this nature as they involve loss of lives and people suffering injuries.
Mr. Moleleki promised that as government they will also visit families of accident victims in their respective areas, further wishing hospitalized victims speedy recovery so that they get back to their normal life.
On behalf of the Scott Hospital Management, Mrs. Ela Ramatla expressed their appreciation over the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit at the hospital, saying the visit is an inspiration to the hospital staff.
She narrated that immediately when they received the message about the accident they sent their ambulances but found local business community members already helping at by taking those four alive to the hospital while nine who died on the scene were send to a mortuary at Ha Makhakhe.
Mrs. Ramatla highlighted that upon their arrival at the hospital, the victims were immediately attended to as doctors and nurses were ready, saying the victims are recovering.
Meanwhile, 14 people have been confirmed dead as nine died at the scene, 4 died on the way to hospital and one at Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital.
Beside the mentioned victims that were admitted at Scott Hospital in Morija and Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital in Maseru, 15 other victims of the accident were admitted at Mafeteng Government Hospital.
