ELECTRONIC SPOT FINE ROLLS OUT TO DISTRICTS

The electronic Spot Fine, which was launched in Maseru early September, is currently being rolled out to all Police Stations in the country.
The roll out exercise, which commenced on Monday October 21, 2019 is a joint initiative by the Road Fund, Lesotho Mounted Police Services through its Information Technology and Traffic Departments, as well as the Department of Traffic and Transport through the Traffic Inspectorate Department.
The electronic spot fine replaces the paper based, manual spot fine. It is meant to help law enforcement agencies effectively issue, trace and report on issued spot fines without geographic limitations.
There are two teams implementing the roll out and they have already covered Police Stations in Maseru, Mafeteng and Berea.
It is anticipated that Police Stations throughout the country will have been covered by end of November 2019.
The electronic Spot Fine device is part of the system which runs over the internet and will be easy to use anywhere around the country where internet is available.
It was built by Engidata and sponsored by Road Fund. The end users are the LMPS and DTT Traffic Officers.
