ENERGY MINISTER URGES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING

The Minister of Energy, Professor Ntoi Rapapa has strongly called Basotho to observe social distancing while queuing for paraffin in different outlets across the country.
The Minister’s statement comes after a decrease in petrol as well as paraffin by M2.45 per litre thus leaving many defying cold weather conditions to go and access the service.
According to Minister Rapapa, social distancing remains one of the precaution measures against COVID-19 hence the need to be mindful in this regard.
“It is important that we observe this life saving rule and standard so that our country cannot record any single case of Coronavirus,” he stressed.
In addition, Professor Rapapa assured the nation that the government as per its agreement with department of energy in South Africa will ensure availability of illuminating paraffin especially considering that it is winter.
Meanwhile, the agency has established from Lesotho Meteorological Services (LMS) that the 2020 winter will be severe cold.
It is in this regard that the public is advised to stay protected against the cold weather throughout winter season.
The World Health Organization (WHO) encourages people to observe these basic preventive measures against coronavirus disease that include: regularly and thoroughly cleaning hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water and to maintain social distancing (at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between oneself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing).
