FACTORY WORKERS’ RELIEF FUND SALARIES DUE ON FRIDAY

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Halebonoe Setṥabi says the relief fund salaries for factory workers should be expected to reflect in their bank accounts on Friday (08/05/2020).
This, Mr. Setṥabi mentioned when addressing the media during a press conference on Wednesday which aimed at explaining in-depth the Prime Minister’s speech on easing of COVID-19 lockdown so that the nation has a common understanding regarding what is expected from different sectors of the society.
The Minister of Health Mr. Nkaku Kabi remarked that Lesotho is close to a high-risk country, saying it is therefore important that the nation abide to the wearing of masks in prevention of the disease amongst other things.
Also speaking, the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture, Chief Joang Molapo said all entities selling alcohol in this new era of easing of movement will operate as offsales between 8:00am to 4:00pm.
“No one is expected to be seen in public drinking while alcohol will be sold under strict restrictions to avoid any activities that can expose individuals, leaving them vulnerable,” he stressed.
He added that each district is expected to identify quarantine facility to ensure safety and compliance with COVID-19 guidelines and procedures.
In conclusion, the Minister of Finance, Dr Majoro warned the nation about implications posed by the Coronavirus, saying currently Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) is unable to meet its targets regarding collection of taxes, thus all ought to bear with government on this one.
Key issues presented included the fact that even in the presence of the virus in many countries of the world excluding Lesotho, people still need to survive while economy thrives.
Also present to address the media was the Chairperson of Ministerial Sub-Committee National Emergency Command Centre (NECC), Chief Thesele Maseribane leading a panel of ministers of Health, Trade and Industry, Tourism, Environment and Culture and of Finance.
