FIRST LADY DONATES TO YOUNG MOTHERS

The First Lady, Mrs. Maesaeah Thabane presented babies clothes to 41 young mothers at Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital (QMMH) on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Thabane, thanked the nurses for their work, saying they are doing a great job in ensuring that infants who do not have clothes are wrapped in such a way that no one would see that they are not wearing anything beyond hospital rags.
She said, she was touched when one mother told her to hold the baby carefully as the baby did not have any clothes, therefore promising to return to the hospital after approaching the people she believes will assist her in ensuring that the babies are comfortable.
Speaking on behalf of Ministry of Health, Mrs. Lesimole Moletsane thanked the First Lady for the good work she continues to do, saying one of the mothers cried when she saw her at the hospital because she (mother) knows her (First Lady) good works and love for children.
‘We are grateful and hope you will continue assisting the less fortunate,’ she added.
On the other hand, QMMH Operations Manager, Mrs. ‘Mathunts’ane Mohapi said their work is very challenging as they interact with different needs on daily basis.
She said donations are going to be helpful especially during this season as it is very cold.
She commended the First Lady for helping another mother who had no money to pay for hospital bill and other expenses.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Ms. ‘Marethabile Tsie who also received M1000 from First Lady expressed their gratitude to Mrs. Thabane for her love and the donations, saying she had no money to pay hospital bill.
Meanwhile, the First Lady and the Prime Minister have embarked on a countrywide Cancer Screening campaign to encourage Basotho, both women and men to do tests for cancer. The Cancer Screening campaign was launched on Monday at Manthabiseng Convention Centre and on Wednesday the Prime Minister and First Lady addressed the Berea, Leribe, and Butha-Buthe communities at the even held in Leribe.
