His Majesty King Letsie III commissioned Mr. Boomo Sofonia and Dr Palesa Mosetse to represent Lesotho in Canada and Japan respectively.
The commissioning ceremony was held at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Wednesday.
While accrediting the High Commissioner and Ambassador, His Majesty said it is the desire of the country to strengthen the existing relations with other countries of the world hence the appointments.
His Majesty expressed confidence that they will perform their assignments to achieve the country’s mission and prove themselves on the mark of confidence that the country has bestowed upon them.
He urged them to serve the government and Basotho with honour, dignity and respect in their capacity as High Commissioner and Ambassador, hence wished them success in their new assignments.
When accepting the charge, Mr. Sofonia pledged to discharge his duties with commitment and loyalty.
He said he will remain aware of the aspirations, plans and priorities of the government in the development of prosperity and well-being of Basotho and in His Majesty’s desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship with other countries.
He also expressed gratitude to His Majesty and the Prime Minister for affording him an honour and privilege to represent Lesotho in Canada.
On the other hand, Dr Mosetse also promised to perform her duties with dedication.
She pledged her desire to remain aware of the priorities of the government in the development of prosperity of the country as well as to strengthen bonds with other countries of the world.
Dr Mosetse also acknowledged the support she got from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International relations and staff, saying she will continue to request support of the government and His Majesty while executing her duties.
