Ahead of the UN’s Summit of the Future scheduled for 22-23 September 2024, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) hosted a High-Level, two-day Pre-Summit of the Future Conference to inform outcomes of the Summit as part of its annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD).

His Majesty was among the speakers and delivered the Keynote address on the segment titled “The Future of Energy” which was co-sponsored by Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO).

The event featured rich discussions and esteemed key speakers and panels on the five core topics of the Summit of the Future, including Sustainable development and SDG financing, Peace and security, Governance of cutting-edge science, technology, and innovation, Youth and future generations; and the future of multilateralism and global governance.

GEIDCO is a non-profit international organization established in March 2016, with its headquarters in Beijing, Peoples Republic China.

It aims to promote the establishment of a Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) system to meet global power demand with clean and green alternatives.

GEIDCO’s key objectives and activities are centered around promoting clean energy development, supporting sustainable development, and fostering global cooperation.

Through its research, events, and global presence, GEIDCO is making significant strides towards creating a sustainable and interconnected energy future.

The High-Level Pre-Summit of the Future event successfully set the stage for the upcoming UN Summit of the Future. By identifying key challenges and fostering international cooperation, the event laid the groundwork for meaningful discussions and actionable outcomes at the main Summit.
