HIS MAJESTY URGES BASOTHO TO EMBRACE REFORMS

His Majesty King Letsie III has urged Basotho to invite God in all things they do particularly the journey of implementing the reforms aimed towards attaining everlasting peace, reconciliation and unity of Basotho.
His Majesty said this when delivering his peace message during the national prayer for peace, healing, reconciliation and unity held at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru on Friday.
He said Basotho should humble themselves before God and seek His wisdom as they enter into the second century of independence by participating in the reforms for the development of the country.
He said it is only when they invite God and make Him the centre of all that the reforms process could reach the anticipated goal, quoting a Bible scripture from the 2 Chronicles 7:14 which reads, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sins and I will heal their land.”’
His Majesty further urged Basotho to hold the kind of peace they are renowned of and advised them to forget and forgive each other and turn a new page that will help them to have a peaceful land wished for.
He said all should embrace and take part in the reforms process as launched without the political divide or any other issues but focus strongly on working towards strengthening the pillars of democracy in the country.
Meanwhile, in his prayer, Arch Bishop Tlali Lerotholi of the Roman Catholic Church also appealed to Basotho to pray for peace while seeking God’s wisdom for the future of Lesotho through the reforms.
He said it is difficult to rule any nation without seeking wisdom and guidance from God hence this national prayer.
Arch Bishop Lerotholi therefore requested God to further make Basotho a peace driven and focused nation so that they can live in the Lesotho that God wants for development and prosperity.
As part of the ceremony, members of the Lesotho Defence Force presented 10 white doves to His Majesty, the Prime Minister and members of the Christian Council of Lesotho who released them to fly in the sky to spread peace through the entire nation.
Similar prayer sessions were held in all the other districts of the country whereby His Majesty’s Message of peace was read for the public by Cabinet Ministers. In Maseru, the session resumed with a peace walk from Moshoeshoe I statue to the stadium.
The ceremony follows a call for national prayer by His Majesty in a statement he made on Lesotho Television on Thursday.
