HIS MAJESTY VISITS JAPAN, ITALY

His Majesty King Letsie III and his delegation left the country on Saturday to Japan where he will attend the enthronement ceremony of the new Japanese Emperor, Naruhito Akihito.
The enthronement ceremony is scheduled for October 22. Emperor Naruhito, 59, officially began his reign in May, after his father, Emperor Akihito abdicate the throne.
The former Emperor is reported to have abdicated on April 30 this year due to his age as he is now 85 years old and declining health.
This was said by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Mothepu Mahapa when briefly interviewed before departure at the Moshoeshoe International Airport.
Mr. Mahapa said His Majesty will proceed to Italy to meet the new Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO)  Director General who was elected in June this year.
His Majesty and his delegation that include Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso  are expected to return home on October 30.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister, Dr Motsoahae Thabane will also be on a three day official visit in Serbia following the invitation of the Serbian Prime Minister.
The purpose of the visit is to strengthen the friendly relations that exist between the two countries, the Press Secretary to the PM’s Office, Mr. Thabo Thakalekoala has said on Saturday.
He said during the visit, the Dr Thabane will sign an agreement on working relation in sectors that include the Army, Technology and medical health related issues.
