HIS MAJESTY WELCOMES NUTRITION DELEGATION

 A delegation from the Nutrition International Agency (NIA) has paid a courtesy call to His Majesty King Letsie III at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Monday.

Speaking in an interview with LENA, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s office Mr Limpho Tau said that this visit comes in as a follow-up to a request made by  His Majesty on his visit to NIA in  Ottawa, Canada where he was impressed with its work which he said can be used to improve the nutrition status with the country.

He indicated that the Agency is expected to work closely with the Food and Nutrition Coordination Office and other stakeholders with which amongst others,  they will revise the policies of the government of Lesotho that advocate for proper nutrition.

Mr Tau also mentioned that the delegation is also going to help with matters of coordination in proper nutrition and are also expected to on their last day give out a report of their findings and areas of improvement as well as recommendations for improving nutrition in the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Victor Odero who is the Head of Delegation and External Relations Director Africa said that with this visit they will find out what needs to be done towards helping Lesotho to improve in terms of nutrition.

He stated that they will also identify gaps and areas of improvement which they will also make recommendations on.

Mr. Odero also highlighted that they are keen to work with the office of the King as the Nutrition Champion as to ensure that there is improved nutrition and the country.

The delegation is made up of Mr. Victor Odero as the External Relations Director Africa, Ms. Jessica Poulin African Regional Manager Nutritional Technical Assistance Mechanism, Mr. Richard Morgan who is the Director International Nutrition Canada as well as Ms. Martha Nyagaya who is the country Director Nutrition International Kenya.

While in Lesotho the mission will meet various food and Nutrition stakeholders to access possible areas of technical support for national nutrition programming.
