HOME AFFAIRS MINISTER SPEAKS ON SPECIAL PERMITS

The Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Mokhele Moletsane has informed the nation especially those working in South Africa (SA) that Lesotho special permits will expire by the end of this year.
The Minister announced this on national television on Wednesday night, saying these are permits allowing Basotho working in SA to do so legally.
He said the end of year expiry date comes after Lesotho and SA agreed on mutual working arrangement regarding special permits since 2016.
The Minister therefore allayed fears of Basotho who have special permits and working in SA, saying while the two countries continue with talks, dates for renewal of such permits will be communicated.
Again, Mr. Moletsane revealed that there has also been negotiations between the Ministers of Home Affairs in these two countries to further ease movement at the borders.
In conclusion, he assured the nation that the Cabinet is already working to find dates for renewal of these permits and that all will know exactly when they can renew their documents.
