MCST AWARDS CERTICATES TO SENIOR OFFICIALS

The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST), Mr. Tšoinyana Rapapa awarded certificates of appreciation to 40 senior officials of Information  Communication Technology (ICT) experts from different government ministries, on Monday at the event Held in Maseru.
The officials were awarded certificates in System Centre Configurations Manager (SCCM) and Active Directory (AD).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Rapapa thanked the African Development Bank (ADB) for its support, saying in 2014 the government of Lesotho in partnership with the ADB embarked on the journey of modification of the Lesotho Government Infrastructure Project, which was meant for the enhancement of good governance by the deployment of modern and secure key government broadband infrastructure.
Mr. Rapapa said the project included the development of skills that will support capacity building for senior government officials hence the awarding of certificates.
He mentioned that the training was in line with e-Government project which phase I of the project will be ending this month while the second phase is underway.
He congratulated the participants commenting that this training will help enhance quality services in all government ministries.
On the same note, the acting Principal Secretary of MCST, Mrs. ‘Mabataung Khalane also thanked the African Development Bank for its support towards this project because ICT remains key for the country to progress.
She further congratulated the recipients and acknowledging their efforts for undergoing this training, noting that this will enables the ministries to deliver operative service as on average the citizens are becoming more technology serving and the government would like to have convenient accessing services from the government.
Mrs. Khalane said the government has to ensure that it delivers services that are accessible and affordable, and thIs can be realised through ICT.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the ICT Director and Coordinator of the Project, Mr. Khiba Masiu said that under the Phase I of the e-governance project there was a component of capacity building hence the training of the government officials.
Mr. Masiu noted that the training was divided into two sections, being SCCM and AD which were meant to upskills the participants to understand how the IT works.
He mentioned that the training was done virtually.
This was a four-week virtual training of 40 senior officials ICT experts from different ministries.
