MCST MINISTER IN SWITZERLAND

The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Mr. Tsóinyana Rapapa and his delegation are attending World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The final week of the forum commences on May 30 to June 03, 2022 at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, under the theme ‘ICTs for Well-Being, Inclusion and Resilience: WSIS Cooperation for Accelerating Progress on the SDGs’.
Information from ITU shows that this annual forum is an efficient measure for coordination of multi-stakeholder implementation activities, information exchange, and creation of knowledge, sharing of best practices as well as provision of assistance in developing multi-stakeholder and public/private partnerships to advance development goals.
It will further offer network opportunities in multi-stakeholder discussions and consultations on WSIS implementation. Additionally, ITU has also indicated that the agenda of the forum will be made based on the submissions received during the Open Consultation Process. (OCP).
Achieving Agenda 2030, SDGs remain a motto for UN family members hence the 2022 WSIS Forum will also serve as a platform to track the achievements of WSIS Action Lines in collaboration with the UN Agencies involved and provide information and analyses of the implementation of WSIS Action Lines since 2005.
Meanwhile, Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) has confirmed that its leadership, in this case, Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Nizam Goolam will participate virtually.
At this summit, the Minister’s entourage is made up of the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Communications, Mrs. ‘Manaleli Phafoli as well as ICT acting Director-General, Mr. Khiba Masiu.
