MINISTER OF HEALTH CONCERNED ABOUT HOSPITALS SHUTDOWN

The Minister of Health, Mr. Motlatsi Maqelepo has appealed to hospital management not to shutdown hospitals as they are working tirelessly to deliver Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to hospitals.

The Minister said this on national television (LTV) on Thursday when updating the nation about COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Mr. Maqelepo announced that nine news cases of coronavirus have been confirmed thus increasing the total number to 44, with 11 recoveries and zero death.

He expressed concern that some of the health workers have been infected as they tested positive for coronavirus hence his appeal to hospitals management, saying besides the distribution of the PPE, the ministry is also working on their (health workers) risk allowances.

In conclusion, the Minister urged Basotho to follow rules and regulations of lockdown as this will help Lesotho in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, only 250 specimen are tested per day and so far more than 3000 specimens have been tested and Lesotho is still at zero deaths.
