PM LAUNCHES OXYGEN GENERATING PLANT IN LERIBE

The Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majororo on Friday launched Oxygen Generating Plant at Motebang Government Hospital n Leribe.

Lesotho Millennium Challenge Development has sponsored the Oxygen Generating Plant at Motebang Hospital.
In his remarks, Dr Majoro said it is with great pleasure that today Lesotho is able to generate its own oxygen to help patients with breathing difficulties.
He said the plant is going to produce 40 containers weighing 50 litres in a day, saying the government will buy from other countries only for adding up if a necessity arises.
The Prime Minister added that according to the information provided, most of the people die because they delay reporting to hospitals on time.
He said vaccinating everyone is the best option now so to save people dying from covid-19.
Speaking at the same event, Minister of Health Mr. Semano Sekatle said since COVID-19 the Ministry of Health has urged citizens to abide by preventative measures such as wearing masks, social distancing and frequent washing of hands.
He said the provision of oxygen is the best option when someone is seriously attacked by covid-19 hence they appreciate the oxygen plant.
Mr. Sekatle said it is best that the government looks into building the main centre designed for the production of oxygen, saying the oxygen plant cannot be installed in all hospitals.
Also speaking, the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative, Dr Richards Banda said WHO acknowledges and thank the government of Lesotho through Ministry of Health for installation of oxygen plants intended to save lives.

He said the installation of the oxygen plant is a milestone in fighting against COVID-19, saying it will remain after as a way of strengthening the health system in the country.
The Member of Parliament for Hlotse constituency, Mr. Keketso Sello expressed his gratitude over the project, saying the oxygen generating plant is going to assist in many ways especially during this time.
Giving a brief on the oxygen plant, the Lesotho Millennium Challenge Development representative, Mr. Kekeletso Chalatse said the plant produces 20 containers weighing 50 litres a day and produces 10 containers in four hours while during hectic days it can provide 60 containers.
The next oxygen generating plant will be launched in Mafeteng next week following the launch at Motebang Hospital in Leribe and in Berea Hospital.
