PM LAUNCHES VACCINE ROLL OUT FOR STREET VENDORS

The Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro on Friday led the launch of a vaccine roll out at Sefika taxi rank in Maseru.
Speaking at the Launch, the Prime Minister said the aim of the launch is to ensure that all Basotho get vaccinated as this could be the only way that the country can ease lock-down restrictions so to regain its normality.
Dr Majoro said getting vaccinated will allow the government to ease lock-down restrictions to allow the economy of the country to recover.
He therefore urged the street vendors and tax drivers to get vaccinated as this will protect them against the deadly virus.
On the same note, the Minister of Health, Mr. Semano Sekatle said he is pleased that the Prime Minister has instructed them to launch the C0VID-19 vaccination campaign at the bus stop, saying Basotho should be aware that the pandemic is here and it seems that Basotho will have to learn to live with it as it is constantly emerging in more dangerous ways than before.
He added that it is their hope as the government that when Basotho have been vaccinated in large number, there will be no reasons to impose lockdowns hence urged the nation to get vaccinated.
He stressed that vaccine does not kill but boost the immune system to fight against the virus, however appealing to individuals who got vaccinated to immediately go to the nearest hospitals when they notice the side effects of the vaccine so they can be assistance.
Mr. Sekatle noted that the vaccination services will be provided to the street vendors until those who want to be vaccinated are all vaccinated, adding that such services will also be provided to Basotho in their villages.
The launch comes after employees from all government ministries began the vaccination this week and it is expected that the process will be completed at the end of September.
The Ministry of Health estimates that so far it has vaccinated about 350 ,000.000 people and the target is to vaccinate 1.6 million people.
Meanwhile the COVID-19 death toll remains at 400.
