PM LEADS SOD TURNING OF THABA-PHATSOA POLICE STATION

The Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro on Friday officiated the sod turning of the construction of the new police station at Thaba-Phatsoa in the Leribe district.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Majoro announced that the construction of the police station is in partnership with Bishop David Ramela of Mahobong in Leribe.
He added that the partnership with Bishop Ramela is in response to the need for essential police services in the area hence the police station will address challenges that have plagued the area for a long time these include rape and theft.
Moreover, Dr Majoro stated that the project will cost M50, 000, 000 and the government will pay 60 percent of the cost while Bishop Ramela will contribute 40 percent.
The Prime Minister said only 25 villages will get services from this police station, urging the contractor of this project to work together with community leaders on issues relating to employment.
In conclusion, Dr Majoro thanked Bishop Ramela for his contribution towards the development of the country and the livelihoods of Basotho.
Meanwhile, Dr Majoro also launched a water supply project in Tsikoane on Friday, saying the provision of clean water to the public is in response to the sixth annual report of the Millennium Development goal.
The Prime Minister said construction of the water supply project at Tsikoane water supply has cost the government more than M120,000,000 but due to misuse of the public funds, the government again has to pay M45,000,000 to ensure the completion of the project.
He remarked that it has been almost 10 years since the government of Lesotho through the Ministry of Water started this project so to raise the levels of water supply from getting water from the wells.
He added that the project has been successful in installing a water pipeline from Tsifa-li- Mali in Matukeng with a capacity of 1,000,000 litres.
Dr Majoro said the relaunch of the project is intended to increase the capacity of another water supply facility in Hlotse town, saying the capacity will be increased from 10, 000 barrels a day to 21, 000. He noted that Hlotse will be supplied with 15,000 barrels a day and 6,000 for Tsikoane.
It is expected that 18,000 of the population will benefit from this project and about 50 Basotho will be employed.
