PM LEAVES FOR LUSAKA

The Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro left the country on Thursday to attend the state funeral of the founding president of Zambia, President Kenneth David Kaunda.
Speaking in an interview, the Press Attaché in the Prime Minister’s office, Mr. Buta Moseme said President Kaunda will be laid to rest in Lusaka, Zambia on Friday.
Mr. Moseme said the Prime Minister’s entourage includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mrs. Matšepo Molise-Ramakoae and the Government Secretary, Mr. Lerotholi Pheko, saying Dr Majoro and his delegation are expected to return home on Saturday.
In his words of condolences on the passing of President Kaunda last week, Dr Moeketsi Majoro said ‘KK’ as he was famously known will be remembered for his outstanding leadership and a source of inspiration to amongst others the Pan- Africanism and the liberation struggle of his era and successive generations.
“For us in Lesotho, his contribution in hosting some of our very own political stalwarts including Dr Ntsu Mokhehle, among others, in the liberation struggle for Basotho’s political and economic emancipation and true Democracy in 1970, will forever be cherished,” Dr Majoro had said.
President Kaunda, who died at age 97, passed on on June 17. He was the first President of independent Zambia.
