PM LEAVES FOR NEW YORK

The Prime Minister, Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane and his delegation left the country on Thursday for New York to attend the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Speaking in an interview, the Prime Minister’s Press Attaché, Mr. Thabo Thalalekoala said the UN General Assembly is an annual event and one of the six main organs in which all member states have equal representation.
He said the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the head of government is expected to deliver speech at the assembly.

Mr Thakalekoala added that the Prime Minister will be in New York until September 30.

The Prime Minister’s delegation include the First Lady, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Government Secretary and senior government officials.

During this assembly, all the 193 member states are represented in this unique forum to discuss and work together on a wide range of international issues covered by the UN Charter and this include development, peace and security as well as international law.
