SENATE ADJOURNS SINE DIE

The Upper House (Senate) has adjourned sine die to enable members to go for a Christmas vacation.
The Senator, also Principal Chief of Leribe, Chief Joel Motsóene raised the motion in the house on Thursday.
The motion was seconded by Senator Kemiso Mosenene who said they have worked hard since the opening of the house where they passed bills, reports and deliberated on other important matters, saying it is therefore befitting that they break so that they would engage in ploughing the fields to take advantage of the current showers.
Senator Mosenene appealed to members to consider donating blood during this time to help the current blood shortage in the National Blood Reserve and that they should go to their different churches during Christmas. He further wished members well during these holidays so that they would begin the New Year energized when they return to perform their duties.
Echoing Senator Mosenene, the Vice President of the Senate, Mr. Tṥepo Monethi urged members to take advantage of the rains to go and work on the fields so to produce crops and that they should meet their communities and spend time with them.
The same sitting meanwhile saw the Upper House adopt reports of the legislation Committee on the International Organisational (Privileges and Immunities) South African Customs Union Regulations, 2019 together with the Financial Institutions (Anti-Money Laundering and Combating of Financing of Terrorism) (Amendment) Regulations, 2019.
The motion was seconded by Senators Thato Mohale and ‘Makholu Moshoeshoe respectively.
