SPEAKER WARNS MEMBERS TO BE READY

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Sephiri Motanyane warned members of the House about the importance of getting ready to tackle Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) whenever it will be found in Lesotho.
This, Mr. Motanyane said when addressing members of the House at the first sitting of the National Assembly on Monday.
The Speaker said the country has a small population that he commented need not be exposed to COVID-19 as it might not be easy to contain its impact on Lesotho and Basotho.
He expressed gratitude to God that the country has not yet registered cases of the COVID-19, expressing hope that scientists will soon find cure, which will be affordable to all nations.
Meanwhile during this sitting, the Minister of Health, Mr. Nkaku Kabi tabled Public Health (COVID-19) Regulations, 2020, while the Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Correctional Services, Mr. Semano Sekatle presented Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters (Amendment) Bill, 2020 as well as Prevention of Corruption and Economic Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2020 before the house.
The House was adjourned.
