The Prime Minister, Dr Motsoahae Thabane on Wednesday, declared COVID-19 as National Emergency.
The formulated plan is intended to prevent duplication of efforts and avoid working in silos by different sectors. These sectors are engaged in developing roles and responsibilities, which will be synchronized to formulate a Matrix document to be followed.
The Disaster Management Authority and Ministry of Health have consolidated a draft budget, which is yet to be presented before Cabinet for approval and the budget will encompass activities and logistics to be undertaken before, during and post crisis.
As part of a follow up on a call by the Prime Minister’s statement, at 12 noon on Thursday a moment of prayer was observed at the National Command Centre.
On Wednesday Development Partners were briefed on the state of COVID-19 at the Command Centre.
Meanwhile, The Ministry of Labour and Employment held a one-day “Getting The Workplace Ready for Covid-19” workshop with the objective of equipping Human Resource Officers and Safety Officers from different factories.
The technical team therefore invites all government ministries, private sector, non-governmental organizations and civil society to participate in the proceedings taking place at the centre.
