SWITZERLAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO HIS MAJESTY

His Majesty King Letsie III says similar geographical features that Lesotho and Switzerland have, make them compatible partners who can help promote common values and goals.
His Majesty said this when accepting letters of credence from Switzerland Ambassador to Lesotho, Dr Nocolas Bruhl at the ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Wednesday.
He said both countries are landlocked but blessed with abundant water and beautiful mountains.
He added that they share bonds of cooperation in tourism and water resource development and management, expressing gratitude over training opportunities that Switzerland offers to Basotho students in her higher learning institutions.
He further expressed hope that the government of Switzerland could provide support to Lesotho in adaptation and mitigation efforts towards food and nutrition.
In conclusion, His Majesty reassured the Ambassador of the full support from Lesotho and her people during his tenure of office.
Echoing His Majesty, Dr Bruhl said both countries are landlocked and surrounded by larger countries, adding that they both have water, which is key to human health and sustainable to natural environment.
He said the government of Switzerland supported Lesotho in the fight against HIV/AIDS, contributed towards the eradication of poverty and lately supported the country in the fight against COVID-19.
He added that tourism in Lesotho has attracted Swizz tourists whose numbers have grown rapidly before the pandemic.
Dr Bruhl, therefore, promised to work tirelessly during his tenure of office to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador also paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro.
