VILLAGE POPE LAID TO REST

The Legendary Jazz Music Icon Tshepo Tshola, kwon as the Village Pope was laid to rest at the Heroes Acre in Thaba-Bosiu on Friday.
The sent off ceremony was led by the by the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME).
Speaking at the funeral ceremony, His Majesty King Letsie III conveyed his deepest condolences to the deceased brother, Mr. Liteboho Tshola and the entire family, saying this is a challenging time to the family as a few weeks ago the family buried one of its members.
His Majesty congratulated them for having someone like Tshepo Tshola in their family, saying he has left a mark in the music industry in Lesotho, Africa and globally.
He said he feels lucky to have known this legend, saying he will be remembered for the love he has always portrayed, and his God given talent that touched many souls.
He remarked that though their hearts are broken all should accept the passing away of Tshepo Tshola as God has made His will.
He therefore appealed to artists to take after Mr. Tshola saying he has left them good music.
On the same token, the Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro said it is a sad day due to the loss of a legend who through his music career has put Lesotho on the map globally.
Relating the deceased career history, Dr Majoro said he started his music career in 1970 but became famous after joining the Uhuru band in 1975 which performed in Lesotho, South Africa London and many others.
Dr Majoro mentioned that in 2007, the AME church honoured the deceased with Bishop Honourary Title, adding that Mr. Tshola worshipped God through his music as his songs conveyed a powerful message.
The Prime Minister therefore thanked God for giving Basotho Mr. Tshola, describing the deceased as a diamond to Lesotho and Basotho hence his music shall forever be celebrated.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Liteboho Tshola said his brother passed away due to COVID-19 after being admitted at Berea Hospital for seven days.
Mr. Tshola thanked the Lesotho Government for affording his brother an official funeral.
Present to send off Tshepo Tshola included Cabinet Ministers, principal chiefs, Members of parliament, international icons like Lebohang Morake (music producer), Julius Malema (EFF) Leader, artists and the general public.
Tshepo Tshola born in Teya-Teyaneng, Lesotho, sang with various music bands that include Lesotho Blue Diamonds, Uhuru and Sankomota. He is the winner of the Lifetime Achiever of 2015.
