WASCO WARNS ABOUT SCAMS

The Water and Sewage Company (WASCO) has on Wednesday made the public aware of scams that are happening across Maseru town.
This is according to the company’s Public Relations office following the recent activities of people who are reported to be destroying water meters.
According to the company, the alleged group is explained to be going around households tempering with water meters and then come back to want to fix them on a charge on M350.00.
The office further explained that there are no charges whatsoever that people will be charged on any maintenance issues concerning WASCO’s works.
WASCO however urged the public to report any suspicious acts that could be noticed in their areas mentioning that the alleged group is reported to be roaming in Ha Foso and Semakaneng.
Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) is a company duly established under the Water and Sewerage Company (Propriety) Limited (Establishment and Vesting) Act, 2010 Enacted by the Parliament of Lesotho.
The company’s Act established the Water and Sewerage Company (Proprietary) Limited and provided for the vesting of the assets, liabilities, rights and obligations of the Water and Sewerage Authority in the company and provided for the transfer of employees.
WASCO serves almost 300 000 people in the urban centres with potable water. The Company has over 80 000 customers which is 60 percent of the total urban population.
The safe drinking water is supplied through post-paid, pre-paid and standpipe connections. It also serves many industries and commercial premises.
