SEVEN JUDGES SWORN-IN

Seven new Judges were sworn-in at a ceremony administered by Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Wednesday.
The Judges are Hopolang Nathane, Makampong Mokhoro, Mabatsóeneng Hlaele, Tséliso Mokoko, Moneuoa Kopo, Mafelile Ralebese and Maliepollo Makhetha who all pledged their oath to administer justice to all persons alike without fear, favour or prejudice in accordance with the Constitution, Laws and customs of Lesotho.
The ceremony, which was opened by the Christian Council of Lesotho with a word of prayer reading in the book of Isaiah 40:31 was witnessed by His Majesty King Letsie III, the Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro, the First Lady, Ministers and senior government officials.
Speaking in a brief interview, the Registrar of the High Court of Lesotho, Mrs. Mathato Sekoai said the new Judges will add to eight Judges making a total of 15 Judges in the country.
She added that the High Court lost judges in the past two years, therefore their positions had to be filled.
She said two of the newly appointed Judges will be deployed at T
šifalimali High Court in Leribe, one at Commercial Court and four will be assigned to oldest cases.
She said the new Judges are expected to ensure that Justice prevails as they are still young and active.
She also urged members of the public to support the new Judges as they were nominated by them, expressing hope that they will work hard.
Meanwhile, about three Acting Judges were sworn in earlier this year to address a backlog of criminal cases before the High Court amongst others.
