PM ATTENDS KAGAME’S INAUGURATION

The Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane is currently in Rwanda to attend the inauguration of the President elect of the Republic of Rwanda.

General elections of Rwanda were held on July,15 2024 to elect the president and members of the Chamber of Deputies.

In an election that was criticised as unfair for its barring of serious opposition candidates, incumbent President Paul Kagame who has been in office since 2000 was elected to a fourth term.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Sunday, the Press Attaché at the office of the Prime Minister Mr. Thapelo Mabote stated that the Prime Minister will be at this event from August 10 to 12th.

He indicated that the event is attended also by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s office Mr. Limpho Tau together with other government officials.

On the other hand, Mr. Mabote stated that amongst some of his engagements, the Prime Minister is expected to have an official visit to meet President Yoweni Kaguta Museveni in Uganda from August 12 to 14th.

Mr. Mabote indicated that before making his return back home, the Prime Minister is also expected to attend the 44the Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of States and Government which will be held in Zimbabwe, Harare from August 15th to 18th.

Lesotho’s formal diplomatic relations with Rwanda were established in 1983. The two countries recently signed a bilateral Air Services Agreement intended to liberalise access to air transport markets.

The two countries also conducted a number of consultations and exchanged technical working visits on programmes such as public service reforms, decentralization, Information and Communication Technology and other areas including fighting corruption.
