The United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator, Ms. Amanda Khozi has called development partners to invest in the future now, bearing in mind the digital transformation.
She said this when addressing development partners during a strategic collaboration forum held at the UN house on Thursday.
She stated that the forum held every two months, focuses on ‘digital transformation’, indicating this is a platform meant to share knowledge, information and opportunities so as to support Lesotho in its endeavour to develop in various areas including the digital space.
Ms Khozi underscored that the forum comes at the time when Lesotho is celebrating 200 years marking the foundation of peace and prosperity. She added that as the reason why the forum should move forward and yield positive results in the digital era.
“Each and everyone’s contribution to sustainable development cannot go unnoticed hence the forum”, she stressed.
On the other hand, the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Mr. Kanono Ramashamole, said they (PS and entourage) took a tour in Kenya last week to learn how issues of digital among others are handled, after being tasked last year of the need to introduce this policy.
“With the digital policy, we are adamant that we are on track as we are looking forward to have a society that is digitally empowered”.
He further mentioned that they are also looking forward to joining among others, ‘Smart Africa Alliance’, as they have established that through collaboration with those pushing the same agenda as the Ministry will also enable them achieve intended results.
