Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Limpho Tau says there is a need to normalize the nation’s understanding on the importance of food production.
He said this when launching the National Nutrition Campaign at an event held in Maseru on Wednesday.
He highlighted that while Lesotho has arable land, it is unacceptable that the country and its people are unable to produce for self-sufficient purposes, so as to tackle unnecessary diseases caused by unhealthy eating habits.
Furthermore, he called the modern Mosotho, to introspect during 200 years, look at the natural food Basotho used to eat then as opposed to the ones being eaten now.
On the other hand, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Ms Amanda Khozi said people with different disabilities should not be left behind as the country is embarks on this tremendous nutrition journey meant to reverse malnutrition in the country.
She indicated that with a total of 35 percent under five children in stunting, the narrative on healthy diet and nutrition should be transformed.
She stressed that together, the journey of planning, working together and registering more milestones ahead of the 2063 agenda can be achieved.
