PRIME MINISTER SPOTS INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN ETHIOPIA

PM’S VISIT TO ETHIOPIA SPOTLIGHTS POTENTIAL INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Prime Minister, Mr. Nts’okoane Matekane, led a delegation to tour the newly launched Kuriftu Resort in Addis Ababa, with the intention of assessing it as an investment opportunity.
The visit, part of the summit program, aimed to explore the possibility of the resort’s owner, Mr. Tadiwos Getachew Belete, establishing a similar facility in Lesotho.
The Kuriftu Resort, known for its exquisite design and use of local materials, is designed to be a classic and elegant resort.
Its unique approach of procuring all the necessary materials from local communities, including furniture, handcrafted items, and other design elements, highlights the resort’s commitment to local economic development.
Ambassador of Lesotho to Ethiopia Ms. Nts’iuoa Sekete emphasized the importance of the visit, noting the potential of investment to enhance the Kingdom’s economic landscape.
As investment opportunity, this facility holds a promise of unlocking a significant number of much needed jobs in the country and we will endeavor to continue talks with the Kuriftu Resort management, the Prime Minister said.
During the tour, Prime Minister Matekane highlighted the significant needs of the hospitality sector in Lesotho.
The lack of adequate accommodation and conference facilities has been a major obstacle, limiting the country’s capacity to host significant events.
This lack of infrastructure affects its ability to host major events such as the African Union mid-term coordinating summit among others.
The government will need to invest in infrastructure to support the ACERWC and other international organizations that host their conferences in the country.
