The Government of Lesotho, through the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), joined Basotho and partners in celebrating the successful conclusion of the Econet Expo 2025, which took place from 26th to 29th August at Maseru Mall.
The closing cocktail dinner was graced by the Prime Minister Mr Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, the Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr Lebona Lephema, and the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation Ms Nthati Moorosi, alongside Central Bank Governor Dr Maluke Letete, Econet Lesotho Chief Executive Officer Mr Dennis Plaatjies and other distinguished guests.
This year’s Expo, held under the theme “Digital First – Shaping Lesotho’s Tomorrow,” brought together leading technology partners including Huawei, Infobip, Maxtec, Fortinet, and Liquid C2, who showcased innovations in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, fintech, and cybersecurity.
These platforms provided an opportunity for Basotho to explore the tools and solutions that will power the nation’s social and economic development.
The Government of Lesotho reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation, driving technology development, and creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people, through strategic partnerships and sound policy frameworks.
The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation emphasized that such initiatives are crucial in ensuring that Lesotho is not left behind in the global digital revolution and that technology is harnessed to improve the lives of all Basotho.
