The Minister of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ms Nthati Moorosi has called for greater inclusion of women in the construction industry, urging stakeholders to provide opportunities that empower them to take leadership roles.
Speaking at a women in construction event held in Mokhotlong, the Minister said it was time to dismantle barriers that prevent women from thriving in a male-dominated sector.
“Women have proven their resilience, skill, and innovation. What we need now is to ensure that they are not just participants but leaders in the construction industry,” she stated.
She stressed that empowering women in construction is not only a matter of gender equality but also an essential step toward national development.
She added that the government is committed to creating enabling policies, providing training opportunities, and supporting female entrepreneurs in the sector.
The event brought together women contractors, engineers, artisans, and young aspiring builders from Mokhotlong and around the country.
