LESOTHO HOSTS CONTINENTAL VALIDATION MEETING ON DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION STRATEGY

Lesotho proudly hosted the Validation of the Draft Report on the Assessment of the Digital Transformation Strategy (DTS) 2020–2030 Implementation in Africa at Lancers Inn, Maseru.
Delivering the opening remarks on behalf of the Minister of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation, Principal Secretary Mr Kanono  Ramashamole welcomed distinguished representatives from across the continent and international organisations, just days after Lesotho’s 59th Independence celebration.
The session marks a crucial step in assessing Africa’s progress towards a digitally inclusive and innovative future. Discussions highlighted the importance of digital public infrastructure, responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI), and innovation ecosystems in driving socio-economic transformation.
Lesotho continues to play its part through e-government services, digital skills programs, innovation hubs, and rural connectivity efforts, showcasing the nation’s commitment to bridging the digital divide.
In his concluding remarks, Mr Ramashamole drew parallels between Africa’s independence movements and today’s digital transformation, urging all nations to embrace a new era of “digital freedom.”
“If the 1960s were the decade of political freedom, let the 2020s be the decade of digital freedom — when Africa rises together, connected, empowered, and united through technology”, he concluded.
