The Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, State of Qatar officially concluded on 6 November, 2025 with global leaders highlighting the urgency of investing in people and peace and reaffirming that social justice and peace are inseparable, calling for stronger safety nets, poverty eradication and human-rights-based policymaking.

The United Nations (UN) Second World Summit for Social Development comes thirty years after the first Social Summit, held in Copenhagen in 1995.
His Majesty King Letsie III and his delegation participated in the Summit and left with a strong conviction to ensure that the government pursues Social Development priorities through amongst other things, seeing the finalization Lesotho’s comprehensive social protection bill and working with international partners like the International Labour Organization, on safe labor migration and the portability of social security benefits.
In the margins of the summit, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Tseliso Mokhosi, finalized technical alignment and preparations for the signing before the end of the year of the Bilateral Labour Agreement with his counterpart, the Minister of Labour of the State of Qatar.
Prior to the closure of the Summit, the Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development, Mr Pitso Lesaoana also attended an event on empowering social development through higher education efforts: Scalable leadership solutions from LEAP-FAST.
