RAMASHAMOLE URGES LCA TO SAFEGUARD END USERS AGAINST CYBER ATTACKS

The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MICSTI) , in collaboration with the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA), held a meeting to discuss commitment to strengthening cybersecurity in Lesotho and elevating the sector to a national level.
Speaking at the meeting the Principal Secretary of MICSTI, Mr Kanono Ramashamole said the initiative began while the Ministry was working on the Cybersecurity Bill. He indicated that several challenges were encountered during the process, prompting the Ministry to undertake a study tour to Botswana to learn best practices and explore ways to move the process forward.
Furthermore, he warned about the growing cyber threats, particularly in the rapidly evolving Artificial Intelligence (AI) space, stressing the need for urgent and coordinated action.
Lastly, he underscored the importance of establishing a strong national cybersecurity sector, noting that a well-resourced and capacitated national structure would be better positioned to effectively address cybersecurity threats and protect end users.
Meanwhile, the LCA Chief Executive Officer Mr Nizam Goolam, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting this initiative.
