The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international relations and the embassy of the people’s Republic of China launched reception of the Quarterly Coordination Mechanism at an event hosted and witnessed by government officials, embassy personnel and media at Chinese embassy in Maseru.
In his remarks, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Thabang Lekhela highlighted the successful official visit of H.E. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, to the Kingdom of Lesotho. He reaffirmed the long-standing, cordial, mutual and respectful relations between Lesotho and China, underscoring China’s invaluable support to Lesotho’s national development priorities.
Furthermore, Mr. lekhela emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation in key sectors such as infrastructure development, human resource capacity building, health, and education, as well as the two countries shared commitment to multilateralism and mutual respect a as well as the high level coordination to take both countries relationship to a new and higher level of implementation.
The Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho H.E. Yang Xiaokun, appreciated the ministry of foreign affairs and international relations for special arrangement done for this important event, he also delivered remarks, warmly acknowledging the Principal Secretary’s address and reiterating China’s continued commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing mutual beneficial cooperation with the Kingdom of Lesotho stating that China will execute implementation of its zero-tariff policy for African countries as well as Lesotho.
