LESOTHO PARTICIPATED IN 70TH SESSION OF THE COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN.

The Kingdom of Lesotho through the representation of the Permanent Representative of Lesotho to the United Nations Mr. Matete ‘Nena joined the global community in marking the official opening of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
The Commission on the Status of Women remains one of the world’s most influential intergovernmental platforms dedicated to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
During the opening proceedings, the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the United Nations took part in the session, representing the country’s Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development.
The 70th session is being held under the priority theme “Access to justice for all women and girls,” a focus that aligns with Lesotho’s national commitments to promoting equality, dignity and inclusive development for women and girls.
Through its participation, the Permanent Mission reaffirmed the country’s commitment to advancing gender equality and strengthening efforts aimed at protecting the rights of women and girls both nationally and globally.
The Mission indicated that it would continue to represent the Kingdom with integrity, clarity and purpose throughout the duration of CSW70 discussions and engagements.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development in partnership with UNFPA and Vodacom Lesotho Foundation held an event in commemoration of the International Women’s Day in Maseru.
