Hearing of cases: (a) trials (b) review applications (c) appeals from the public service tribunal (d)enforcement applications

• All cases wherein the court has exclusive jurisdiction to hear have to start at the DDPR to go through the conciliation process.
• In a trial an originating application has to be lodged. It has have all particulars of the parties. An originating application has to be followed by an answer.
• In a review application, a notice of motion accompanied by an affidavit has to be filed. It will be followed by an answering affidavit after the record of proceedings has been filed.
• Notices of an appeal from the public service tribunal are lodged with the court and are accompanied by grounds of appeal.
• When lodging an enforcement application, a litigant has to provide proof that the judgement creditor knows about the award against him and has to provide the court with particulars regarding his place of business

No payment is required except for revenue stamps that have to be appended on court papers in terms of the Rules of court.

A judgement has to be delivered within 90 days of the completion of a hearing. However the time can be extended considering the amount of evidence adduced if it was a lengthy trial.
