The Government of Lesotho is expected to spend about M30 million on the construction of a footbridge at Maphutseng Ha-Mootsinyane and on rehabilitation of the gravel road from Mesitsaneng to Ha-Ts’epo.
The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Matjato Moteane, disclosed this at a public gathering where he introduced Founda Construction Engineering (Pty) Ltd, the company awarded the tender for the projects.
Footbridges provide accessibility to various places and reduce travel distances by linking places between them while they also benefit most of the travelers who are people living in the mountainous regions.
Furthermore, they provide residents with economic opportunities as farmers can easily access markets for their local produce and reduce poverty in the course of an alarming rate of unemployment in this country.
